His Focus
…through the years
EARLY TRAINING
B.U. School of Fine Arts
When mRowntree was an art student at Boston University in the 1970’s, the world was analog. Fine art was taught the Classical way: all the fundamentals, all the time. Drawing, anatomy, painting, sculpture, printmaking, silkscreening, photography. A work-study job as a Media Lab projectionist packed his schedule. But with the Music and Theatre departments nearby, there was inspiring creativity all around him. The city was buzzing with opportunity. Exciting times.
CAREER EXPERIENCE
Media experimentation
As a professional career designer/director – it was all about experimenting, embracing change, staying ahead of the market, and staying in-business. Starting as a lone freelancer to eventually owning and running his own design and animation company from a skylit studio in the Back Bay. He rode the wave of desktop publishing, 3D animation, web design services, and social media marketing. What a ride.
SOCIAL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Sprout Collaborations
Today a social media-fueled economy requires new skills: social-saavy, collaborations, and partnerships. Our Sprout Projects are Partner collaborations that put creative design to work for social causes. They support underprivileged communities of artists and craftspeople with jobs and skills development. mRowntree coordinates a creative product/marketing supply chain expressly designed to benefit community groups. Sprout projects can be tailored to address different needs – like proving a corporate social responsibility, funding a climate change initiative, or an art auction to benefit an endowment.
